Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Hirable ("we," "our," or "us"), including our website, applications, Chrome extension, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are between 16 and 18 years of age, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
3. Description of Service
Hirable is an AI-powered SaaS platform that helps users create ATS-friendly resumes tailored to specific job postings. The Service includes:
- AI-driven resume generation and optimization
- Job description analysis and matching
- Professional resume templates
- PDF and DOCX export
- A Chrome browser extension that scrapes job postings from job boards on your behalf
- Free and Pro subscription tiers with varying feature access
4. Account Registration
To access most features, you must create an account. Account registration is handled through our authentication provider, Clerk, using OAuth sign-in (Google or Apple). Hirable does not store passwords. By creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your account and linked OAuth credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
5. Subscription & Billing
Hirable offers a Free tier and a paid Pro subscription. All payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your credit card numbers.
- Auto-renewal. Pro subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual cycle until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access until then.
- Refunds. If you cancel within 14 days of your initial purchase and have not generated any resumes, you may request a full refund by contacting us. After 14 days or after generating a resume, subscriptions are non-refundable.
- Price changes. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect on your account.
6. Free Tier & Usage Limits
The Free tier provides limited access to resume generation and features. Usage is subject to rate limits and generation caps that may change at our discretion. We reserve the right to modify Free tier limits at any time. Exceeding stated limits may result in temporary throttling or a prompt to upgrade to a Pro subscription.
7. Content Ownership & Intellectual Property
Your content. You retain full ownership of all data you provide (work history, education, skills, certifications, projects, and other personal information) as well as any resumes generated through the Service. You may use, distribute, and modify your generated resumes for any lawful purpose.
Our content. Hirable retains all rights in and to the Service, including our platform, software, AI technology, resume templates, design assets, and branding. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand elements.
License to us. By submitting content to the Service, you grant Hirable a limited, non-exclusive license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your personal data to train AI models, and this license does not extend to any such purpose.
8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate and optimize resume content based on your input. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or formatting issues
- You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all content before submitting it to employers or other parties
- Hirable does not guarantee any particular employment outcome, interview, or job offer as a result of using the Service
- The Service is a productivity tool and does not constitute professional career counseling, legal advice, or employment services
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit knowingly false, misleading, or fraudulent information in resumes generated through the Service
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble our AI systems or software
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or generated content in bulk
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated access methods against the Service beyond the officially provided Chrome extension
- Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the Service
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity
10. Chrome Extension
Hirable offers an optional Chrome browser extension that scrapes job posting content from supported job boards and sends it to our backend for analysis and resume tailoring. By installing and using the extension, you acknowledge that:
- Installation is entirely voluntary and the Service functions without it
- The extension collects job posting data from pages you visit on supported job boards
- Data is transmitted to our servers using a scoped API key tied to your account
- You can revoke the extension's API key or uninstall it at any time from your account dashboard
- The extension's use of third-party job board data is subject to those sites' own terms of service
11. Data & Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. Key points include:
- We collect your email, name, professional history, education, skills, and job descriptions you provide
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- We do not use your data to train AI models
- Generated documents (PDFs, DOCXs) are stored on Google Cloud Storage
- Account deletion starts removal of your Hirable account data immediately; legally required billing and audit records may be retained with personal references redacted where possible
12. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:
- Clerk — authentication and account management
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
- Google Cloud — file storage and infrastructure
- AI providers (currently Google Gemini) — resume content generation and job matching; providers may change over time
Hirable is not responsible for the practices or policies of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective terms.
13. Service Availability
We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. No service-level agreement (SLA) is provided for any tier. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
14. Modification of Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email or an in-app notification before the updated Terms take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you disagree with a modification, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
15. Termination
By you. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, Hirable begins removing your account data immediately. Billing, receipt, refund, charge, and minimal audit records may be retained where required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or legal compliance, with personal references redacted where possible.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use the Service in a manner that harms other users or our infrastructure. Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure the violation before termination.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. HIRABLE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Hirable's total aggregate liability for any claims arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Hirable in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- In no event shall Hirable be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, employment opportunities, or goodwill.
- These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if Hirable has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hirable and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) any content you submit, including false, misleading, or inaccurate information in resumes; or (d) your violation of any third party's rights.
19. Dispute Resolution
Binding arbitration. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, conducted in the State of California. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.
No class actions. You agree that disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding.
Small claims exception. Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes within that court's jurisdictional limits.
20. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
21. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. All remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
